Talking with this woman
One night about
Poetry and writing
She was published
Poor and hungry
Happy to have the ability
To have her work
In some trashy magazine
I told her
I couldn't compromise
It wouldn't be right
Almost a sin
She told me
Sometimes
You had to cheat
To win
I took a step back
I felt kind of sick
Deceiving a reader
For cash in hand
Is called a rip off, a shame
A waste of good ink
After awhile
She went away
So did my respect
Thanks
for the contribution, Aldo.
Editor's
note: KotaPress in no way
endorses the idea that writers
who actually get paid for
their hard work are ripping
people off. A book sale
is all part of the business
of your art. :)
