Getting On
By Nancy Watts

I am getting on with my days

I push a cart
through the grocery store
put gas in the car
not much more

Insignificant tasks now
challenge my patience

But…

I am getting on with my days

Not a good one?
That’s ok
there will be another

Oh God another!

And the mailbox seems
So far from the door
My mind is weighted with
What for?

The what ifs
What now
When?

But…

I am getting on with my days
