A Note - for You to Forget Me
By Mariano Rivera

Excuse me for this brief letter,
delivered today to your closed door,
If only for my peace - with your forgiveness -
once read, immediately destroy it.

I wanted you to know that I feel better,
I have no longer the strength to insist
on this love, that made me crazy for you,
that fever, in my body, is now gone.

I can tell you that I have no feelings,
now, finally willing to be without you,
No longer matters, the distance between us,
because, at last, my heart is dead.

Some may say that I let you go,
when there was still time to hold you,
No one knows - you were never mine -
being free, you never really loved me.

You knew me only as a friend,
the advantage was always on your side,
The day you walked away,
you failed to see when I died.

For these reasons, I cannot hate you,
with no courage to tell you of my love,
You went past my sorrowful life,
never knowing - I was at your side.
