»» October is Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month. In 1988, President Regan made it official. Buy or make yourself a blue & yellow ribbon pin to wear next to that pink Breast Cancer Awareness pin. When people ask what the blue & yellow ribbon means— Tell Them!! Tell them about your child, your grandchild, your nephew or niece, your friend’s child, any child who left this world all too soon. This isn’t our grandparents day and age, folks. Pregnancy & Infant Loss isn’t a “hushed-tones” subject anymore. Speak up. Help heal the grief!

»» October 11th, 2000, at 7 p.m. KotaPress offers the Expanding Poetry class, facilitated by Kara L.C. Jones, hosted in the Seattle Area. Cost is $35 and pre-registration is required. Fee includes workbook. Call 206-297-1012 to register today.

We will be featuring Nancy Talley, Sandra Bailey, Carla Griswold, Tim Hulley, Marika Thompson, Dana Gerringer, and Heidi Sauer. And we will be celebrating El Dia de los Muertos that night, too! Bring your poetry ears and join us! A portion of the proceeds go toward the Mrs.Duck Project.

»» If you can't make it to the October 20th reading, we have another way for you to support the Mrs. Duck Project. 10% of any purchase you make from Mary Kay representative Bonnie Hallock will be put toward the Mrs. Duck Project! We are so honored to have this generosity from Bonnie, and we wanted all of you to know how to participate. Go to Bonnie's Mary Kay site at www.mymk.com/bhallock and order away-- IMPORTANT: There is a place on the online order form to put a message, and you must put KOTAPRESS in there so she knows it's a Mrs. Duck order. Bonnie can take check or money order for any amount, and she can take Visa/MC for orders over $60. She can also take PayPal.com for orders. If you have further questions, feel free to send her an email from her site at www.mymk.com/bhallock. (In the spirit of fairness, Bonnie can only accept orders from patrons who do not currently have a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant. Thank you for understanding.)

»» Around the time of our American Halloween, there is also a traditional Mexican holiday called El Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). It is a beautiful holiday. We encourage you to learn more about this holiday, especially if you are grieving the loss of a child Try taking a look at http://www.azcentral.com/ent/dead/ to learn more. We at KotaPress have found this celebration to be very comforting and have done our best to encourage a healing of grief through knowledge and celebration of this holiday.

»» Children’s Memorial Day happens on the second Sunday of each and every December. At 7 p.m. (PST) that night, families around the world will light candles in honor and memory of their children. Contact you local grief support organizations to see where and when they are holding their Memorial Service. If they are not offering a Memorial Service this year, offer to help them organize one for next year. The memory of our children’s lives and deaths is worth this kind of celebration!
