LOOP
By Trevor Hewett

Miles off shore,
slow clouds build from the ocean.
Dark curtains of rain sweep inland,
deluge the upper moors,
sink, seep through mosses, grass,
pull elements and soils
down quick pathways
to feed, sustain the estuary,
piling flow on flow until
the fusion with the advancing sea,
the endless, gathering tides.
