A Few More Helpful Websites
by Kara L.C. Jones

This first site is called SISS or Stillborn Infant Support Service. They are based in Australia but there are many helpful resources and supports listed here. This link gives you a little bit of history as well as one scary statistic: "...in Australia alone, one in three pregnancies will result in miscarriage, stillbirth, or death shortly after birth."

This site is run by Jen Mountney who sometimes writes articles and poems here at KotaPress. Jen has done amazing work in memory of her daughter Amy Dawn, and she shares many wonderful writings and support resources at her website Hello, Goodbye: A site for those who have lost a baby. She offers some wonderful ideas for raising awareness, for coping with the holidays, for remembering our babies.

Violent Crime Victim Services is a small agency run by Lew Cox. He has several books available about grief and healing and the website was set up to help families after the loss of a loved one due to a violent crime. John Purrington who is a therapist here on Vashon said of Lew's books, "These are three of the best booklets on handling grief that I have seen." We hope this website and all the resouces Lew is offering here will be of help for people looking for resources to help deal with acute grief. His "Letter to Survivors" spoke to my heart and overwhelmed me. I think you'll find good support here.
