Breaker Wall
By Kara Fell

I sit on the wall
I knew so well in
My early growing years
The wall on Lake Erie
The block stones I knew
Perfectly
I had memorized how to
Step lightly and quickly
Across the obstacle course
Of stone
I used to run it with
Eyes tightly shut
Small hands clutched
Tiny feet landing perfectly
left, right, jump up, hop down
So many hours I spent
On uneven rocks
Hearts won and Broken
Sunrise and sunset
My young eyes gleamed
At the thought of
A breaker wall adventure
