        By Janet Mae Best

      Spring is pushing through
I can hear it in the trees
        buds reaching and stretching -
        screaming from within
        to once again see light.
        Warm air surrounds,
        each petal painted
        a different color -
        pink, purple, white.
        Sweet fragrance added
        to please those passerbys
        who cannot restrict themselves
        to be indoors.
And we see the rainbow of colors
        unearthed and sprinkled through
        whispy hills and crowded streets.
        Subtle energy explodes
in a fever that is "Spring."
