TEEN MOTHER

I blithered
some righteous idiocy
about getting to school
on time.
Saying further
that I would call her mother
if she was late again.

She skewered me
to my chair
pinned me there
with her eyes.

She said -
I walk to school
with my kid
on my hip.
My mother
don't give a shit
if I get here at all.
I am the one who cares
             about school

...and my mother's boyfriend
will give me a ride
for two dollars for gas
...and a fuck.

She said -
I walk    and sometimes    I'm late.
